ABOUT
In 2002, at 18 years old, I entered the fashion industry driven by youthful idealism and unwavering values. Witnessing the industry's wasteful practices, I felt a deep need to make a difference. This led me to build a diverse ecosystem of brands centered around circular design and visual art direction. Along the way, I not only created multiple brands but also supported other founders and established a creative and artwork studio. My journey was fueled by necessity and fueled by a passion for transformation

SEA-BASED ACTIVITIES REPRESENT 50% OF THE OCEAN POLLUTION
Marine litter, the human-made waste in the ocean, is a pressing issue. Sea-based activities contribute 50-60% to this problem. Among the litter, fishing nets dominate as plastic waste, endangering marine life and entering the food chain, posing risks to human health. To address this, reducing single-use plastics and promoting sustainable fishing practices are vital. By minimizing disposable plastics, adopting eco-friendly alternatives, and using biodegradable or durable nets, we can curb ocean pollution. Proper waste management onboard vessels and recycling discarded nets also aid conservation efforts.

With his latest projection at MoMA, NYC, and a commitment to ocean conservation. He incorporates recycled ocean materials and his own pigments into his artwork. His early collaborations with ARTE and Larry Clark explored the enigmatic realm of youth. Documenting the Parisian skateboarding scene, he overlays skate wheel traces on photos. Since 2015, he has used skateboard wheels as brushes on a half-pipe-shaped canvas. Additionally, he delves into the impact of social media on both Western and Eastern millennials, examining how the digital world has shaped their aesthetics and lifestyles.

In September of last year, Eugène Riconneaus captivated audiences with the unveiling of his profound artistic vision at New York’s renowned MoMA during Unga Week and the Humain Kind film series (Asvof). The global circular ecosystem was abuzz with anticipation as announcements reverberated through the streets of Paris and the vibrant atmosphere of London Craft Week in May 2022, heralding the arrival of ER Soulier—a limited edition collection of 300 pairs, available for pre-order and lovingly embraced as a Beta production by the designer himself. A year of meticulous refinement ensued, elevating this ephemeral concept into a tangible masterpiece. Devoted patrons eagerly await the arrival of their coveted limited editions by the end of this month, while May 19th marks the highly anticipated release of a new high-top sneaker, exclusively available for pre-orders, following an exciting series of brand edition drops.

Our products are constructed using elements that would otherwise be considered waste, such as fishnets, seaweed, and seafood byproducts. Our goal is to reimagine the potential of these materials and create a demand for products that cherish and appreciate marine litter.
Our sneakers are composed of recycled elements, including sleepstock leather (selected from Leather Working Group-certified factories), natural cork, and recycled rubber. By using these materials, we are not only reducing our environmental impact, but also supporting the reduction of ocean pollution. -
Turning his creative studio into a laboratory, switching his colour search to material research, Eugène Riconneaus focused on the invisible elements of this new sneaker. Reimagining the potential of items such as fishnets, seaweed and seafood wastes, Riconneaus has constructed the sneakers to be composed of 78.5% recycled elements while also utilising sleepstock leather, natural cork and recycled rubber. “Sea based activities represent 50% of the ocean pollution. I see this material as ready-made to give a proposition to others and influence action for the ocean. The idea is to create the demand that appreciates and cherishes marine litter products: from fishnets, plastics to oyster farms’ waste and algae” explains Eugène Riconneaus.

1 - Pre-order production:
We're proud to offer our sneakers for a limited time pre-order. Then, we only produce what is necessary in small quantities, allowing us to minimize waste and ensure the durability of our products.
2 - Collection and recycling:
We value marine waste by transforming it into raw materials for our sneakers. Used fishing nets and oyster shells are collected to be integrated into our manufacturing process.
3 - Manufacturing:
We work closely with our European artisans to produce each pair of sneakers with care and precision. Each order is processed individually to ensure the quality of our products.
4 - Delivery:
As soon as your sneakers are ready, we ship them directly to you. You'll be informed at every step, from production to delivery, for a smooth and enjoyable shopping experience.
5 - Surplus & Exchanges:
We produce an extra 5% to guarantee exchanges and returns in case of sizing errors. Once the exchanges are complete, we offer these surplus sneakers for sale to our registered community members. -
With the objective to slow-down seasonal products, ER will only look to release new updates, not seasons; new collections for ER means new innovations for the brand and environment. All designed through a modern lens to develop a silhouette that is a “reflection of a community, the eternal youth, my skateboarding crew” Eugène has created their dream show. Marrying the stylish design with functionality, each shoe offers the wearer good grip, breathability, and comfort with each pair.

In 2002, when I started my career, I was super young, I arrived in the industry with a very naive way of viewing business ― which is a good thing if you have good values. I realized that in the leather industry, only a bit is used, so I thought to myself, 'I'm sorry, but I gotta do something with it." I named it ER
At 2014 ER Soulier was just a simple idea to recycle leather and rubber scraps, making it the only circular sneaker proposal at the time. A large number of personalities from skateboarding and fashion supported this initiative by distributing or partnering with this brand at the time even though it wasn’t a real brand yet (clients list: Supreme, Larry Clark, Nixon, Hypebeast, etc.). A tribute to Eugène Riconneaus’ childhood dream; to become a shoemaker, thanks to the skate shoes he repaired himself during his year of skateboarding. During the first lockdown, we received many messages from former clients asking us to do it again until we were convinced to turn the idea into a real brand. The rest is now in your hands, thank you.

Eugène Riconneaus, mentored by Larry Clark, emerged as a talented photographer through transformative collaborations. His work captures the essence of Parisian skateboarding and vibrant beach neo-hippie youth. Across cities like LA, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Seoul, his lens conveys the melancholic spirit of Generations Y and Z. He also directed award-winning videos, exploring the raw essence and cultural significance of skateboarding. Building on this, Riconneaus documented skate tracks at Palais de Tokyo and friends in 'Young Users 2000'. His exploration of social media's impact solidifies him as a visionary artist.
